Clubs at LBCC Reflect Interests of Students Beyond the Classroom
At LBCC, it is easy to form a club or to join one already here.
Clubs at LBCC allow students to explore and expand their passions and hobbies. The college has a diverse range of clubs available, such as Dance Club, Poetry Club, Creative Writing Club, Gardening Club, Film Club, and more.
All you have to do is have five people minimum to join your club and you go to the LBCC website home page, click on “Student Life" and that will take you to all kinds of subjects about the clubs.
You can click on clubs from A to Z and look at all the clubs and see things that the clubs are doing. You can also fill out an application there or you can talk to or email Larissa Eufrazio de Oliveira, clubs and student engagement director.
Once a student completes an application, it will be voted on at the next Student Leadership Council of Clubs meeting, which is held every other Monday. That’s when all the clubs meet together and help each other out.

“Students who get involved with the extracurricular activities have a better chance of succeeding at the school,” Camp said. “It gives the students something else besides the homework and struggles of college.”
One of the primary benefits of joining a club at LBCC is the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share similar interests. Plus students can connect with others who have the same passion, leading to new friendships.
Duda Reolon, executive assistant for the Council of Clubs, said, “I spend three hours a week as a volunteer and I enjoy helping in any way.”
She added, “I am a student at LBCC and I would volunteer full-time if I had the time. Larissa, the executive of the club's department, makes sure everyone gets their chance to join or come see the council meetings.”
Moreover, clubs at LBCC offer a platform for personal and professional growth. Joining a group may help with motivation, as it requires some skills needed in the academic world and working with people.
For instance, leadership positions within clubs provide opportunities for individuals to refine their leadership and organizational abilities. Students can learn to effectively communicate, delegate tasks, and collaborate with others to achieve shared goals.
Such experiences can bolster a student’s résumé and make a positive impression on future employers or transfer institutions, according to Bryce Walker, a blogger and regular contributor to Forbes, Inc., and Business.com.
